A Thanksgiving Poem

When the leaves of Autumn colors
Have all fallen to ground,
When the wind that
soars around us
Feels brisk upon our cheeks,
When the thoughts of loved ones gathering
Warms our hearts sufficiently,
It’s time to bow our heads
And thank the Lord for all we have.

When the table is set
In it’s holiday best,
When the aromas of the cooking feast
Fill the home to its very tip,
When the turkey is roasted
And the hostess calls us in,
It’s time to bow our heads
And thank the Lord for all we have.

When our appetites are satisfied
And we’re all talked out,
When the laughter has calmed
And the dishes have been cleared,
When the children are tired
And we say our goodbyes,
It’s time to bow our heads
And thank the Lord for all we have.

When a new day has dawned
And we reflect on our Thanksgiving Day,
When a new day has dawned
And we have thanked the Lord for all we have,
When this day has dawned
It‘s time to ask the Lord,
Have we done enough to share
All we have with all those in need.
