Give Thanks Even When Grieving

Grief is one of the many troubled times we will have to endure while on earth. God made us feeling beings, and one of those feelings is grief. He did so to draw us nearer to Him. For who can comfort us better than he?

While we grieve both deeply and often lingeringly we must ask God in prayer to give us peace and open our eyes to all our other blessings. The Scripture says...

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

Even though we are saddened by the loss of a loved one, there is so much to be thankful for. God gave us our parents, siblings, spouses, and children to love and the ability to feel the joy that came from those relationships. We can be thankful for the memories of those loving and joyous time. Most importantly, we can be thankful that our loved one is in Heaven eternally with our Lord. Our loved one is now experiencing how...

He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. Revelation 21:4 NIV

So...

Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy. John 16:22 NIV

Give thanks to the Lord!
