Bible Verses for Father's Day Cards

If you enjoy making your Father's Day card or helping your children make theirs, you'll want to include an inspirational Bible verse. Select a Bible verse that inspires dad to keep up the good work, and lets him know how much you love and appreciate him.

Proverbs 17:16

Children’s children are the crown of old men,
And the glory of children is their father.

Proverbs 23:24

The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice,
And he who begets a wise child will delight in him.

Proverbs 20:7

The righteous man walks in his integrity;
His children are blessed after him.

Love...

bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 1 Corinthians 13:7

 Psalm 127:3

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.

Proverbs 22:6

Train up a child in the way he should go,
And when he is old he will not depart from it.

 Mark 9:37

“Whoever receives one of these little children in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me, receives not Me but Him who sent Me.”

Father's Day Prayers

For Father and Grandfather:

Lord,

Thank you for my father,
And my grandfather too.
They followed in your footsteps,
And showed me the path to you.
I’m thankful they were loving,
Understanding and patient too.
Help me to honor them on Father’s Day,
And the whole year through.
Amen.

For A Child to Say:

Dear God,

Thank you for giving me the best daddy.
He works hard to buy me food and clothes.
He works to keep our house nice too.
He plays with me and teaches me things.
He takes me to church and prays with me.
Please make this Father’s Day special for my daddy,
Because my daddy loves you,
And he taught me to love you too.

Amen

Remembering Dad

If you know someone who has recently lost their father, this Father's Day may be bitter sweet for them. You need to be understanding of the bereaved's feeling of bitterness that may come to the surface knowing that they will not be able to visit their dad on Father's Day this year, or ever again. But it's also a time for the bereaved to savor the sweet memories of times spent with dad in the past. You can help the bereaved find joy in the day by
sharing some of your favorite memories of their dad with the bereaved.

If you won't be with the bereaved, send them a heart felt note or call them on the phone. Depending on how long or well you know the bereaved, you can share a memory from their childhood, teen years and/or adult hood. Times when you where there to see how loving, understanding and fun their dad was to be with. Tell them you know how much they miss their dad, and if your were close to their dad, how much you miss him as well.

A memory filled sympathy gift received by the bereaved a few days after Father's Day, will be a great comfort to the bereaved. It confirms your true feelings of concern for them and honors the memory of their father. A Personalized Picture Frame or Personalized Photo Cross is a gift that shows you took the time to give a one-of-a-kind sympathy gift of love.

Father's Day Poems for Father's Day Gifts

My Tree

For as long as I can remember
My tree has been there.
A tree I’ve looked up to
Throughout the years.

My tree’s trunk grows tall
And only so wide
Yet it stands strong enough to support me
As I make my climb.

When I am filled with Spring creativity
My tree buds with praise.
When I feel the heat of Summer anger
My tree’s leaves provide much needed shade.
When I Fall with disappointment
My tree’s leaves rest beside me.
When I feel hard and cold as Winter
My tree’s rings of wisdom rejuvenate me.

My tree’s branches grow out
Far and wide.
Yet they bend in the breeze
Just enough to encircle me.

Today I thank my tree
For always being there.
Today I thank my father
For being the tree the Lord provided for me.

God Made You

God made you as peaceful as a dove resting on a branch.
God made you as comforting as a valley of green grass.
God made you as generous as the wild flowers grow.
God made you as wise as the Great Grey Owl.
God made you as powerful as a rushing stream.
God made you stand firm in your belief like a mountain.
God made you as bright as the stars above.
God made you soar high in life like a Golden Eagle.

But God wasn’t finished yet with His work of art.
There was one more thing God wanted to make you.
Then one day God made you my father.
And everyday I say thank you Lord for the best ever Dad!

Waves of Love

On calm, sunny days the waves seem to roll in ever so slow and delightfully.
On dark, stormy days the waves seem to rush in way to fast and harsh.
During the day there are high tide waves and low tide waves.
Over the years, I have come to know your waves.
When I have pleased the Lord, your waves have been like a sunny day.
When I have displeased the Lord, your waves have been like a stormy day.

Today I say thank you dad for all the waves.
The waves that taught me right from wrong.
For these are the waves of love.

The waves of love that made me the Christian woman I am today.

What Do Dads Do Anyway?

I was watching my husband teach my son how to throw a football out in the front yard one day last week. I was amazed at how detailed and gentle he was in his explanation and demonstration. When my son's throw looked all wrong, I was amazed at how patient and soft spoken my husband was as he repeated his explanation with a full 2nd demonstration.

When my son was younger, it was I who taught my son to walk, talk and dress himself. I handled potty training, table manners and so many things that I often wondered, just what are a dad's responsibilities? It seemed like my husband did all the fun things like play with him, tuck him in bed at night and show him off to anybody and everybody who would look and listen.

Now I don't wonder anymore. Now I see that while all the things I taught my son were important, my husband has plenty to teach my son, on his own, in his own time, in his own way. I realize now that my husband wasn't just teaching my son how to throw a football, he was teaching him how to be detail oriented, patient, understanding, how to try again and not give up, and most importantly, how to be a good dad.

The scriptures say,
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: Ecclesiastes 3:1

So let us rejoice that we have fathers, grandfathers, husbands who are fathers and for the fathers that our sons will become, all because they have been blessed with a father who does so very much when the time is right.

Because of My Father

As a child my Father helped me learn to tie my shoes by drilling holes in a wood block, adding shoe laces and sitting with me showing me over and over again until I got it right. My father taught me to swim and how to ride a bike. Because of my Father,

I learned that I could accomplish things. But the memory of childhood with my Father that stands out the most is the many times my Father spent hours gently combing the tangles out of my two foot long wavy hair. My Father showed me that men could be gently and loving.

As a teenager my Father drove me to Church and Baptist youth group, chaperoned parties, set up a schedule for household chores and gave me an allowance. Because of my Father, I learned the importance of faith, of being honorable in my actions, of being productive and the importance of a budget. But the memory of my teen years that stands out the most is when I told my Father I was leaving home at the tender age of eighteen. My Father did not stand in my way even though my words surely pained him greatly. My Father showed me how to put the wants and need of others before my own.

After I left home, I lost my way for awhile. Even though my Father disapproved of my way of life, he never disowned me. Because of my Father, I learned that love takes strength. My Father showed me the value of patience.

My father wasn't perfect. Sometimes he said or did things that hurt me. For many years I struggled with those things. It’s not until this year, the year I turn 50, that I realize how much like my Father I truly am. I am a woman who can accomplish things, a woman who can be gentle and loving, a woman of faith, an honorable woman, a productive woman, a woman who knows how to budget, a woman who puts the needs of others before my own, a woman of inner strength, a patient woman, a woman who is not perfect, a woman who sometimes says or does things that hurt others.

So this Father's Day I will honor my Father with a greater appreciation than I ever have before, because if it wasn't for my Father, I wouldn't be the woman I am today.
