Inspirational Graduation Poems

In the graduation poems below, person can be replaced with man, woman, son or daughter where appropriate. Our, we, we’ll can be changed to I or my.

From infant to child,
To the person you’ve become,
Every memory precious,
A blessing from above.
Today you graduated,
You worked so very hard,
A wonderful beginning,
For the future yet to come.
Our joy is overflowing,
On this special day.
For your faith in the Lord,
Has brought you here today.
And when we wake tomorrow,
Another prayer we’ll say,
That each step you take forward,
The Lord will lead your way.

Christian Valentine Poems

My Valentine, Sweet Love of mine
You’re a blessing from the Lord.
I ask the Lord to be our center
So I can share His love with Thee.

I thank the Lord for the love you give
It sends joy my way every day.
For you’ve asked the Lord, same as me
To be First in our union of three.
 _______________________________

How precious you are my Valentine.
You mean so much to me.
The only love greater than yours,
Is the love our Lord gives to me.

I share His love with you today,
For you share your love with me.
The love you receive from the Lord above,
No greater love could there ever be.

Our love is full of joy and peace,
And  passion on Valentine’s Day,
I feel so very  thankful,
That our love is blessed by He.

Never have I known a man like you,
One who loved me as sweetly as you do.
I feel your love strong and true,
In all you say and do.

I chose a man like you to be,
The man that I would love.
For I see the love you give to me,
Comes from our Lord above.

Our beloved Savior is our strength,
A wondrous guide indeed.
He gives the joy and peace and comfort,
That makes our love hearts sing.

A Sympathy Poem for Spring

The New Life of Spring

When a life here on earth has ended,
Great sadness fill our days.
But life here on earth must continue,
So bare when a loved one has passed away

Pray for the grace to move forward,
For a little joy to brighten each day.
Know that the Lord has all the power,
He will carry you along your way.

As the trees look bare from a distance,
Happiness seems miles away.
But you only need to walk up closer
To see the buds sprouting on a new Spring day.

Christ left this life upon two branches,
And darkness covered the land.
But on the third day, He rose anew,
Into the light of a new Spring day.

So let the new life of Spring delight you,
The love of the Lord fill each day He has made.
And know in your heart the warm Spring breeze,
Is the Lord caressing your tears away.

Christian New Year Poems by Authors Unknown

Just One Request

Dear Master for this coming year
Just one request I bring:
I do not pray for happiness,
Or any earthly thing—
I do not ask to understand
The way Thou leadest me,
But this I ask: Teach me to do
The thing that pleaseth Thee.

I want to know Thy guiding voice,
To walk with Thee each day.
Dear Master make me swift to hear
And ready to obey.
And thus the year I now begin
A happy year will be—
If I am seeking just to do
The thing that pleaseth Thee.

--Unknown Author--

His Unfailing Presence

Another year I enter
Its history unknown;
Oh, how my feet would tremble
To tread its paths alone!
But I have heard a whisper,
I know I shall be blest;
"My presence shall go with thee,
And I will give thee rest."

What will the New Year bring me?
I may not, must not know;
Will it be love and rapture,
Or loneliness and woe?
Hush! Hush! I hear His whisper;
I surely shall be blest;
"My presence shall go with thee,
And I will give thee rest."

RECIPE FOR A HAPPY NEW YEAR

Take twelve whole months.
Clean them thoroughly of all bitterness,
hate, and jealousy.
Make them just as fresh and clean as possible.
Now cut each month into twenty-eight, thirty, or
thirty-one different parts,
but don’t make up the whole batch at once.
Prepare it one day at a time out of these ingredients.
Mix well into each day one part of faith,
one part of patience, one part of courage,
and one part of work.
Add to each day one part of hope,
faithfulness, generosity, and kindness.
Blend with one part prayer, one part meditation,
and one good deed.
Season the whole with a dash of good spirits,
a sprinkle of fun, a pinch of play,
and a cupful of good humor.
Pour all of this into a vessel of love.
Cook thoroughly over radiant joy,
garnish with a smile,
and serve with quietness, unselfishness,
and cheerfulness.
You’re bound to have a happy new year.

An Inspirational Christmas Poem

The Christmas Gift

It's time to rise
Early in the morn
And sing a song of praise.

For on this day
A King was born
In a simple manger of hay.

His mother Mary
And father Joseph
Raise Him in their arms.

As angels sing
And shepherds gathered
Beneath a starry sky.

Three wisemen came with offerings
For the Son of God, the Savior of man
The most precious gift of all.

An Inspirational Autumn Poem

A Leaf of Threes

A sugar maple leaf I see,
Fallen from a sturdy tree.

Three points around a single stem,
Three veins that reach up to the ends.

Three colors come together and blend,
Gold and orange and brown on the edge.

A message from this leaf of threes,
Of faith and hope and love for thee.

Faith on the left and hope on the right,
Love in the center with the greatest height.

This leaf of threes drifted from above,
As gently and peacefully as a white winged dove.

In my Good Book I will press it in trust,
That it will not wither and die and turn to dust.

And when upon this sugar maple leaf I glance,
I feel the power of the Holy Trinity and not by chance.

Poems for Father's Day Cards

I thank the Lord everyday
For a father as great as you.
A man who taught me right and wrong
Who carved a path for me.

You taught me strength and independence,
Gentleness and kindness too.
And every time I had a question
You helped me find the answer.

I couldn't be the person I am
If it weren't for the father you are.
A man who walks with the grace of God
And shared that path with me.

----------------------------------------
People come and people go,
But Dads are always there.
Through thick and thin
They're by your side,
Helping you find your way.

Words alone can not express
How truly grateful I am.
To have a Dad as great as you
Happy Father's Day!

-------------------------------
You touched my hand
The day was born.
You held my hand
When I was a boy.
You shook my hand
As I became a man.
Now I offer my hand
In anyway I can,
Because you are my Dad.

Memorial Day Poems Prayers

A Day to Remember

There is a day we stop and remember,
The men who fought with bravery.
Those who shed their blood and lost their lives,
So our country could live in liberty.

There is a day we stop and remember
The colors that we love.
The red, white and blue of freedom,
That fit our country like a glove.

White for purity of purpose,
Red for valor during battle,
Blue for justice paid to those who threaten us,
Are the gifts our Lord blessed upon our men.

There is a day we stop and remember,
That our men have not died in vain.
For after every battle is won,
Our country's standards reign.

Wave a flag,
Place a flower upon a grave,
Say a prayer of thanks on Memorial Day.
For the price of freedom was freely paid.

God Bless America
While persecution spreads from land to land,
Our allegiance to freedom remains the same.
Many soldiers fought our many enemies,
To keep our great country's liberty.
Much blood was shed and many lives were lost,
I keep those men and their families in my prayers.
Then I thank you Lord for the land that I love,
And with joy I shout, God Bless America!

A Memorial Day Prayer for Our Soldiers
My God who gave His only Son,
To shed His blood for all mankind.
Give strength to all the loving ones,
Who give their sons to keep our land free.
Your faithful men and women,
Venture near and far.
We call upon your mercy,
No matter where they are.
Keep them safe, one and all,
On land, in air, on sea.
And while we know some will not return,
Give us strength to accept their destiny.
And to the men that have fallen,
Give a special place of grace in eternity.
And help me Lord to never forget,
The price they paid for our great county.

Mother's Day Poems

Thank You Mother

Morning, noon and night
Whenever I had a need.
All I had to do was call
And by my side you would be.

You taught me all the fundamentals.
You encouraged me to excel.
You showered me with love and affection.
Then you set me free, without deserting me.

The greatest gift you've given me
Is my faith in the Lord above.
Yes, you taught me with your words
But you showed me like a dove.

Every day I thank the Lord
For blessing me with you.
For I was born to a very special mother
Who guides me through and through.

My Prayer for You

Today I say a prayer
The Lord will bless your day.
That whatever you require
He will send your way.
I pray for joy and peace
To fill your everyday.
I pray you feel my love
That is always sent your way.

Happy Mother's Day

A mother's faith is strong
It shows her the Lord's way.
Then she passes it on to her children
That they might grow stronger day by day.
I couldn't ask for a better mother
Than the one the Lord has given me.
So I say a prayer of thanks for you
And wish for you a Happy Mother's Day!

New Life!

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:17-19

New Life!

Oh, how I remember the day
I accepted you into my heart.
It overflowed with love.
Words alone can not impart.

My days were suddenly filled with
A joy that lit my soul.
A joy that shone so brightly
It paved for me a knew goal.

To share my Lord's journey
He took upon this earth.
To spread His Father's message
Of the power of rebirth.

And when the season is here
To remember my Lord's strife.
My reverence is like a burning fire
Bursting His promise of new life!

Easter Lily Poems

The Story The Easter Lily Tells

The Easter lily trumpet silently sounds,
New Life is here for all.
Just ask Christ into your heart,
And know love like never before.

The Easter lily's blossom of white,
Its color a silent message tells.
Stay pure in heart and true to the Lord,
And hope and joy will be yours.

The Easter lily's leafy stalk of green,
Tall and strong it grows.
Up towards heaven it reaches to remind us,
Of the promise of eternal life that can be ours.

The Easter Lily's Message

An Easter Lily I give you,
On this very special day.
The day we celebrate our Messiah,
And the message, for which His life, He gave.

Passionate, humble and serving,
Of our Father in heaven above.
Purity, hope and faith,
Our redeemer taught us to love.

An Easter Lily I give you,
A lovely reminder it is indeed.
That without our one and only Savior,
Eternal life there would not be.

Embracing the New Year!

The Bible tells us all we must know to enjoy the new year...

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17

We must accept who we were and work towards being who we can be...

No, dear brothers and sisters, I am still not all I should be, but I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven. Philippians 3:13-14

Forgiving and forgetting our own trespasses is sometime harder than forgiving others. But why? God has already forgiven us. The gates of heaven await us. Every day we must find a new opportunity to be a better person and do good works that please our Lord and fuels our spirituality.

So my wish for you is not just, Happy New Year. It's,

Embrace the New Year!

Lord Thank you for your loving forgiveness.
It allows me to enjoy each day.

Thank you for your written teachings,
They guide me day by day.

Make me swift to hear your calling,
That I may readily obey.

Help me embrace this new year,
That I may please you in every way.

A Christian Christmas Poem

As soon as I've consumed the family Thanksgiving dinner, gone Black Friday shopping with my sister and traveled back home to the Poconos where I live, I am flooded with Christmas memories and begin planning this year's Christmas celebrations. I couldn't help but write this Christian Christmas poem...

Christmas Memories

I have many Christmas memories.
Decorations abound, inside and out,
A turkey dinner and presents beneath the tree.

But greatest of all are the memories of,
All the ways in which my mother celebrated
The wonder of Jesus’ life with her family.

She set up the nativity scene with great care,
Then she read the story of Jesus’ birth
While we sat and listened at her feet.

On Christmas Eve we sang songs to celebrate Jesus’ birth.
On Christmas Day we thanked Jesus for coming into our hearts.
Throughout the season, we celebrated Jesus as our Savior.

But there was one Christmas memory that perplexed me.
It was the tears I saw sparkling in my mother’s eyes,
When she brought the true meaning of Christmas to life.

But one day the Lord whispered the answer in my heart.
They were her tears of love and thankfulness,
For Jesus and His Father in Heaven, and all of us.

So my favorite Christmas memories, are memories of love.
God’s love for me, Christ’s love for me, my mother’s love for me.
The love I take and pass on, for my son’s own Christmas memories.

God Made You Unique

Sometimes we don't feel very unique, or should I say special? Sometimes we feel too unique, or should I say not too special? the Bible says...

For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
Psalm 139:13-14

God made us all, one by one. He’s made us in all kinds of shapes, sizes, colors, capabilities and personalities. When I'm not feeling very unique, I remember this. When I'm feeling a little too unique, I also remember this. And with this in mind, I wrote a poem that seems to say it all.

God’s Snowflakes

I may be just one of many,
Like the many snowflakes that fall from the sky.
Yet I know God made me special,
And I never ask him why.

I know you are just one of many,
Like the many snowflakes that fall from the sky.
But I know god made you special too,
And I never ask him why.

If you would see me as special,
I will do the same for you.
For God molded us one by one,
From His ever loving hands.

Yes, God made us all different,
In His wisdom and through His plan.
Yet I managed to discover,
One thing that is always the same.
God loves us one and all and knows us all by name.

A Thanksgiving Poem

The first day of fall is almost here. It is already cool in the Pocono Mountains. The abundance of falling acorns makes me think it is already fall and of course of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

I couldn't help but write an inspirational poem for Christians to share on this Thanksgiving Day.

My family gathers together,
Every Thanksgiving day.
Grandmas and grandpas,
Moms and dads,
Aunts and uncles,
And all of us kids.

We hug and kiss and reminisce.
We tell stories new and stories old.
Good times and bad times come to mind.
We smile, we laugh and sometimes shed a tear,
As our family grows together,
Year by year.

It takes a few tables
Spread from room to room,
For all of my family
To share a meal.
One big circle of love we create
As we join our hands, little and big.

We thank the Lord for all we have.
We ask His guidance in all we do.
Deep in my heart I know,
This family of mine is quite divine.
God Bless Our Family
Every day.

Perhaps you or someone in your family has written a Christian Thanksgiving poem to share. Please email it to me at inspirationalgift@yahoo.com with the subject "Poem for Blog."

Christian Fish

Definition:

The Greek word for “fish” is ichthus, and each letter represented a word, namely: i (Iesous—Jesus), ch (Christos—Christ), th (theou—of God), u (huios—son), s (soter—savior). The fish thus became sort of a code word during times of persecution by which believers expressed the conviction: “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and my Savior.”

Scriptures:

Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Matthew 4:19

When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food.”
But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”
And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.”
He said, “Bring them here to Me.” Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained. Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children. Matthew 14:15-21

The definition of the Christian fish above and the previous two scriptures inspired the following poem:

The Christian fish
is a symbol
I proudly wear.
It tells the world
Who I am, and
What my mission is.

Without it
I am weekend.
Without it
My path disappears.
Without it
There are no miracles.

Christ is my Savior.
He makes me a fisher of men.
Faith in Him
Fills my life
With hope and love
Making miracles happen every day.

Father's Day Poems for Father's Day Gifts

My Tree

For as long as I can remember
My tree has been there.
A tree I’ve looked up to
Throughout the years.

My tree’s trunk grows tall
And only so wide
Yet it stands strong enough to support me
As I make my climb.

When I am filled with Spring creativity
My tree buds with praise.
When I feel the heat of Summer anger
My tree’s leaves provide much needed shade.
When I Fall with disappointment
My tree’s leaves rest beside me.
When I feel hard and cold as Winter
My tree’s rings of wisdom rejuvenate me.

My tree’s branches grow out
Far and wide.
Yet they bend in the breeze
Just enough to encircle me.

Today I thank my tree
For always being there.
Today I thank my father
For being the tree the Lord provided for me.

God Made You

God made you as peaceful as a dove resting on a branch.
God made you as comforting as a valley of green grass.
God made you as generous as the wild flowers grow.
God made you as wise as the Great Grey Owl.
God made you as powerful as a rushing stream.
God made you stand firm in your belief like a mountain.
God made you as bright as the stars above.
God made you soar high in life like a Golden Eagle.

But God wasn’t finished yet with His work of art.
There was one more thing God wanted to make you.
Then one day God made you my father.
And everyday I say thank you Lord for the best ever Dad!

Waves of Love

On calm, sunny days the waves seem to roll in ever so slow and delightfully.
On dark, stormy days the waves seem to rush in way to fast and harsh.
During the day there are high tide waves and low tide waves.
Over the years, I have come to know your waves.
When I have pleased the Lord, your waves have been like a sunny day.
When I have displeased the Lord, your waves have been like a stormy day.

Today I say thank you dad for all the waves.
The waves that taught me right from wrong.
For these are the waves of love.

The waves of love that made me the Christian woman I am today.

Irish Blessings

Since my mom was 1/2 Irish, we kids didn't dare go out of the house on St. Patrick's Day without the wearing of the green. Of course we didn't believe in leprechauns, but every time we saw a rainbow we couldn't help but dream about finding a pot of gold at the end of one. In the summer, my sisters, friends and I would spend hours searching for a four leaf clover. One year a friend of mine actually found one. Whether you're Irish or not, you can't deny the beauty of an Irish blessing. Here are a few of my favorites. Perhaps you'll share one in a card with a Christian friend or at the dinner table with your family on St. Patrick's Day.

May you always have work for your hands to do,
May your pockets hold always a coin or two,
May the sun shine bright on your windowpane,
May the rainbow be certain to follow each rain,
May the hand of a friend always be near you,
And may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.
May the friendships you make
Be those which endure
And all of your Grey clouds
Be small ones for sure.
And trusting in Him to Whom we all pray,
May a song fill your heart every step of the way.

Family Blessing:

May these walls be filled with laughter,
may it reach from floor to rafter.
May the roof keep out the rain,
may sunshine warm each windowpane.
And may the door be open wide
to let the Good Lord's love inside.

Family Dinner Blessing:

May this food restore our strength,
giving new energy to tired limbs,
and new thoughts to weary minds.
May this drink restore our souls,
giving new vision to dry spirits,

and new warmth to cold hearts.
And once nourished and refreshed,
May we give thanks to Him who
gives us all and makes us blessed.

A Christian Wedding Poem

Our Pure Love

We ask the Lord for many things
But greatest of them all,
Is one to love who loves one back
Second only to our Lord.

Pure in body, heart and soul
We join our hands in prayer.
We ask the Lord for His grace
On the promise that we make.

Our jewelry is just a symbol
Of the grace our Lord bestows,
A cherished token of our love
For one another and our Lord.

When on our wedding day
We join together forever,
We’ll light our flame of love and know
Our passion has our Lord‘s blessing.

The Greatest Valentine Gift Poem

God gave us minds to choose to love,
He gave us hearts to feel love,
He gave us eyes to see the things we love,
He gave us ears to hear the ones we love,
He gave us others to share love.

God gave us many Valentine gifts,
Valentine gifts for us to enjoy,
But the greatest Valentine gift of all,
Was the gift of Jesus Christ His son,
So that we could receive His amazing love.
