Crafty Thanksgiving Decorations

I love baskets! I can't explain why, I just always have. Everywhere I go, I see baskets I like. But when I look at the price tags, I just can't get over how much some of them cost! It seems... baskets have become an expensive designer's touch.

Of course I want that expensive designer's touch in my Thanksgiving decorations. Baskets give warmth to fall decor and baskets full of the bounty the Lord 's earth say, 'Give Thanks' so beautifully.

So how do I afford crafty Thanksgiving decorations? I search dollar stores for baskets, silk and dried flowers, imitation fruits and decorative ribbons. I also watch my local craft store ads for sales and coupons on these items. With a few dollars and a little imagination, you can make beautiful Thanksgiving decorations for your fall decor too.

Cornucopia baskets are a traditional Thanksgiving decoration, but who says we have to fill it with fruit? Here dried flowers from a craft store fill my dollar store basket. I placed the basket on a crocheted table runner from a discount store, added a silk leaf garland from a dollar store behind it, and completed my crafty Thanksgiving decorations display with a real mini pumpkin from the supermarket (less than a dollar) and a set of ceramic pilgrims from the dollar store. A wonderful fireplace mantel display!

This dollar store turkey shaped basket can't be beat! I filled it with a dollar store stem of silk flowers. Then I placed a dollar store doily on my end table and placed some dollar store silk leaves on top. After centering my turkey shaped basket, I completed my crafty Thanksgiving decorations display with 2 dollar store glass pumpkins.

I just couldn't resist this dollar store basket with attached ears of corn! When I purchased the basket, it was all natural color. I turned the ears of corn yellow with a magic marker. I filled the basket with 2 dollar store silk flower stems. Then I tied a dollar store, fruit printed ribbon around the basket and finished this crafty Thanksgiving decorations display off with a bow. Here you see it in the corner of my china hutch behind two decorative votive candle holders.

As you can see, you can make Thanksgiving decorations displays that are not only crafty, inexpensive and beautiful; they are unique and inspirational too!

Psalm 95:1-6
"O come, let us sing unto the LORD:
let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.
Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving,
and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
For the LORD is a great God,
and a great King above all gods.
In his hand are the deep places of the earth:
the strength of the hills is his also.
The sea is his, and he made it:
and his hands formed the dry land.
O come, let us worship and bow down:
let us kneel before the LORD our maker.
